For the second time this year, I have been asked to film a procession of a fallen hero. At the time of the first request, I was very nervous to accept. I questioned my own intentions for doing this. Would people think I was trying to gain attention for myself or organization? Would they see the film crew, cameras, drones as a disgrace? Would we be able to record a video, one that would honor the individual?

What I have come to realize is that we are a community that does not have boundaries of city or state lines. We all share many of the same feelings and all handle them much in the same way. These videos are as much about honoring the legacy of the fallen as they are about healing.

I don’t believe that you just make your way through life, you are called on. I don’t see what we are doing as a job, however its our civil duty. Its forever challenging though to make each shot one that is respectable to the family, however strong and powerful in meaning. I wouldn’t say we are an expert at that at this time. When your watching please keep in mine that somewhere there is a child, a wife or husband, a mother or father whom just lost a part of them. We just hope and pray that our contributions are enough that their legacy will live on forever.
