Whitefish Dunes in Door County

A better way to start summer in Wisconsin with a trip to Door County. Whitefish Dunes are located on the northeast of Sturgeon Bay on the eastern side of Door County Peninsula.
There are three beach access points. The first access beach is closed due to high erosion at this time. We ventured down a hiking trail “Red Trail”, nearly a mile to access the third point, where pets are allowed.
If you are wondering the water in May is a chilling, great for a quick splash, but too cold to take a dip in.
The state park was established in 1967 and is 867-acres according to Wikipedia. With over 14 miles of hiking trails is a great adventure.
I chose these three photos as it captures the roughness of the shoreline and the sight of the sandy beaches you will experience. The trails through the park share their own heritage, which you will have to see for yourself. Or continue to follow and I will drop in some more photos.
